Abstract

652,556. Automatic temperature control systems. P.A.M., Ltd., and HOLT, H. B. W. Sept. 16, 1948, No. 24332. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] The temperature of an article 23 which is being heated, is regulated by an interrupter switch 9 for the heating means, this switch being controlled through a pivoted lever 7 by the expansion and contraction of the article 23. The article to be heated or, as shown, a small metal rod 23 in direct contact with the article, is supported between pivoted or ball ends of pivoted levers 7, 18, the latter of which is fixed in an adjusted position. The switch 9 comprises two spring contacts 8, 11, the former of which is operated by the lever 7 and the latter is pre-set in accordance with the desired temperature by an adjusting-screw 15 having a lock-nut 17. The parts are supported on a frame 1 and the screw 15 is so mounted and formed of a material different from the frame 1 that effects of heat on the contact 11 are compensated. A cover is provided for the apparatus and is of such a nature, e.g. polished, that the effects of ambient heat are reduced. Specification 631,595 is referred to.
