723,248. Hydraulic turbines. MARKHAM & CO., Ltd., BARCLAY, R. J., and BOVING & CO., Ltd. April 2, 1953 [April 9, 1952], No. 9058/52. Class 110 (3). The bucket wheel of a hydraulic turbine comprises a number of dual-bowl buckets attached to a centre part of the wheel, integral portions of the centre part of the wheel each forming a single support for a bucket and each of the integral portions extends along at least a part of the radial height of the bucket at a central location between the bowls. In Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the support 16 which is an integral-projection of the disc 10 extends the full radial height of the dual bowl bucket 19, 19, the support forming the cusp-shaped part 17 of the bowls, the bowls being secured by welding on either side thereof. The projection 20 on Figs. 1 and 4 does not extend to the full radial height of the bucket and the two bowl portions 22 abut one another beyond the projection. The projection 23 of the wheel in Figs. 5 and 6 does not extend right through the thickness of the bucket, the two bowl portions 24 being secured thereto and the cusp-shaped portion 15 is built up by welding. In Fig. 9 the dualbowl bucket 19 is formed in one piece which is secured to the integral projection 30. In further embodiments, either groups of or single supporting portions are formed integral with sector-shaped parts which are welded together edge-to-edge to form a disc-like centre part.
