Abstract

1374920 Supporting turbines BBC BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 9 March 1972 [11 March 1971] 11005/72 Heading FIT A support arrangement for a steam turbine having a casing 8 divided in a substantially horizontal plane into an upper part 7 and a lower part comprises claw members 1, 2 on the upper and lower parts respectively, the claw members having abutment surfaces facing said horizontal plane and bearing on casing support 9. Lower claw 2 bears on the latter via a bar 3 bolted at 18 to support 9, the bar having a recess containing springs (19) Fig.3, (not shown) which urge a pair of tiltable discs, (4, 5) against the abutment surface 2a of claw 2. The upper disc (4) bears also on a guide bolt (6) passing through bar 3 and connected to a vibration damper disposed on the bar. To permit tilting of the discs (4, 5) their abutting faces are chamfered or are of lenticular or spherical shape. Upper claw 1 slidably bears on support 9 via a pad 10. Support 9 is anchored to foundation 15 by bolts 14 and may be integral with, or separate from, a turbine shaft bearing 17.
