Abstract
722,454. Pinch cocks. AEROSOL PRODUCTS, Ltd. June 23, 1953 [June 23, 1952], No. 15821/52. Class 135. [Also in Group VI] The control valve (30) for switching the fluid flow from one bottle to the other when the former becomes full in suction pumping apparatus for medical drainage work of the type in which a fluid drainage pipe is connected to one of two air pump evacuated suction bottles is characterised in that it comprises means operated by a single control member (61) for pinching together the walls of either one of two flexible tubes (22a, 22b) which conduct the fluid from the drainage pipe (24) into the two bottles so as to shut off the fluid flow into one of the bottles whilst leaving unimpeded the fluid flow into the other bottle through the other flexible tube. The bottles (12a, 12b) also have air connections comprising flexible tubes (18a, 18b). In the apparatus shown movement of 51 to squeeze either 22a or 22b simultaneously squeezes 18a or 18b thereby also shutting off the suction from the full bottle. As shown in Fig. 3, the tubes 22a, 22b are connected inside the valve casing by a T-connection 23 to the drainage pipe 24 whilst the tubes 18a, 18b are connected by a T-connection 19 to a pipe 20 which connects with a motor-driven air pump 10. The walls of tubes 18a, 22a or tubes 18b, 22b are squeezed against surfaces 33a, 33b, within the valve casing depending upon whether the member 51 is moved to the extreme right or the extreme left such squeezing being effected by discs 50 rotatably mounted on a shaft 45 of a structure comprising discs 43, 44 and shafts 45, 46, mounted for rotation within the valve casing and actuated by the member 51.
