Abstract

PURPOSE: To convey a high-viscosity liquid such as fresh concrete with high head under pressure to a distant place, by using a cylinder unit.
CONSTITUTION: A piston 6 slides in a cylinder 3 which has a suction port 1 and a discharge port 2. The interior of the cylinder is divided int a conveyed substance chamber 4 and a driving liquid chamber 5 by the piston 6. While a driving liquid is provided under pressure in the driving liquid chamber, an exhaust valve 9 is opened to discharge air out of the liuqid chamber 5. The suction port 1 of the cylinder is connected to the bottom of a hopper 12 through a check valve 11. The discharge port 2 of the cylinder is connected to a conveying pipe 14 through a check valve 13. The check valve 11 is open at the suction stroke in which the piston 6 is moved rightward. The check valve 11 is closed at the discharge stroke in which the piston is moved leftward. The other check valve 13 at the discharge port 2 is closed at the suction stroke but open at the discharge stroke. The central part of the piston is curved to heighten volumetric efficiency.
