[Also in Group XXIX] In an air conditioning system for an aircraft cabin in which a supercharger 120 supplies air to a compressor 123 driven by a turbine 120 in turn supplied with cooled air from a heat exchanger 125, a valve 10 (see Group XXIX), arranged in a by-pass conduit 133 across the turbine 128 opens when the ratio of the pressure in the outlet conduit 122 of the supercharger to the ambient atmospheric pressure exceeds a predetermined value. The opening of the valve 10 relieves the back pressure on the supercharger and therefore prevents overheating thereof. The ambient atmospheric pressure is applied to control the valve 10 through a pipe 96 and supercharger outlet pressure through a pipe 104.
