Abstract
722,355. Controlling clutches. ALLEN & SONS (OXFORD), Ltd., J. June 10, 1953 [June 11, 1952; Oct. 8, 1952], Nos. 14673/52 and 25187/52. Class 80 (2) Clutch control mechanism, for a dog clutch in a powerdriven scythe, comprises a clutch lever 17 connected by a rod 16 to a pivoted bellcrank lever 12 actuating a clutch control rod 11 biased to the clutch engaged position by a spring 19, and a trigger 35 connected by a rod 34 to a pivoted bellcrank lever 31 which can move a pivotable and slidable plunger 26 to engage a toothed wheel 25 fast on the clutch shaft. When the trigger 35 is so moved, the plunger 26 is tilted by the rotation of the toothed wheel 25 into engagement with the bellcrank 12 and the clutch is positively disengaged. The clutch lever 17 can be held in the clutch disengaged position by a detent 21. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the trigger acts as a detent for the clutch control lever.
