Abstract
722,137. Electric clocks. LIP SOC. ANON. D'HORLOGERIE. June 30, 1952, [Feb. 19, 1952], No. 16429/52. Class 139. An electric clock having an electro-magnetically maintained oscillator is characterized in that a pivoted lever is adapted to be angularly shifted by the oscillator when the latter moves beyond a predetermined amplitude, said shifting urging the lever against either of two stationary abutments whereby the movement of the oscillator is arrested. As the balance A, Fig. 4, swings clockwise a cam A1 on the balance staff moves a spring conductor C against a contact C1 to energize the electromagnet B which impulses the balance A in the usual manner. A pin A2 on the balance A co-operates with the forked end D4, D5 of a lever D, pivoted at D1, and lying between two pins El, E2. Should the balance receive a shock sufficient to cause it to swing too far in one direction the pin A2 will engage the outside of the limb D4 or D5 of the forked lever D which is thereby moved until arrested by the appropriate pin E2, E1 so locking the balance. An overswing of the balance will not result in a closure of the circuit of the electromagnet B.
