Abstract

667,885. Clockwork escapements. STRAUMANN, R. March 9, 1950 [April 5, 1949], No. 5960/50. Class 139. In a detached lever escapement the lever is held in its banked position by magnetism. The banking pins e<SP>1</SP> and e2 (Fig. 1) are permanent magnets of high coercivity and co-operate with a soft iron pin f on the lever b. The pallets c<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>2</SP>, are set so that either their locking faces have no "draw angle" or are inclined slightly to the locked tooth when in locking position. In a modification, not shown, the locking faces of the pallets are curved, the centre of curvature being on the axis of oscillation of the lever.
