An interrupter adapted to operate satisfactorily over wide variations of voltage is provided with laminated damping springs m which are engaged by the fixed contact-carrying blade i due to impact of the moving contact g, when the amplitude of vibration exceeds a certain amount. The "fixed." contact j is mounted on a spring i which is also laminated to provide a certain amount of damping and which normally rests on an arm h with a forked end k. The moving contact g is mounted on a rigid arm f fixed to a blade spring c the free end of which rests on a block d and which carries the armature e.
