Abstract
625,511. Inertia switches; magnetic switches. BARTRUM, E. R. Aug. 5, 1947, No. 21187. [Class 38(v)] An inertia-operated switch for actuating aircraft fire-extinguishing equipment in the event of a crash, comprises a spring blade 3 normally held in a strained condition by an armature 2 on the blade being attracted by a magnet 1. When the acceleration of the switch normal to the plane of the blade exceeds a certain minimum, the armature is released and a contact 13 on the blade engages a fixed contact 8. The blade-tension is adjustable by a screw 12 and the armature has a non- magnetic shell 6 electro-deposited on it so as to form an artificial air-gap between itself and the magnet.
