721,624. Luminescent screens for cathode-ray tubes. FERNSEH GES. July 11, 1952 [July 12, 1951], No. 17504/52. Class 39 (1) The luminescent screen of a cathode-ray tube thus comprises boron nitride components activated preferably by carbon and giving blue and yellow luminescence respectively, the screen being relatively unaffected by ion bombardment or by temperatures of up to 3,500‹ C. A low carbon content gives a blue luminescence and a high carbon content a yellow luminescence, and a suitable mixture of these two compounds has a luminescense substantially white in colour.
