867,096. Colour television tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 22, 1957 [July 25, 1956], No. 23109/57. Class 39(1). A colour television picture tube has a multi-colour screen in which the grains of the luminescent colour of greatest subjective intensity (green) are individually enveloped in a relatively thick substance, while the grains of the other colours (blue and red) are enveloped in relatively thinner substances or not at all in order to balance out the light output effect of the bombardment of the screen by secondary electrons produced at colour selection and/or postfocusing grids or masks. The enveloping substance may be an oxide or a mixture of oxides of silicon, magnesium or aluminium and may be applied by a method described in Specification 501,741, 521,099 or 626,657.
