Abstract

1,188,954. Luminescent materials. MATSUSHITA ELECTRONICS CORP. 4 July, 1967 [22 July, 1966], No. 30784/67. Heading C4S. A colour TV tube fluorescent screen includes phosphor particles coated with 0À5-5À0% by weight of a mixture of either GeO 2 and SiOg or WO 3 and SiO 2 . The particles are coated by adding one of the mixtures to water glass, introducing the particles and heating. A coating slurry is prepared by dispersing the coated particles in an aqueous PVA solution with colloidal silica and photosensitive NH 4 bichromate. The colloidal silica, comprising SiO 2 particles covered with Na aluminate, is absorbed on the coated phosphor particles and acts as a protective dispersing agent. ZnS :Ag, (Zn,Cd;S:Ag and Y 2 0 3 :Eu phosphors are referred to.
