1,134,281. Luminescent screens. O. B. VOROBIEVA, G. E. VOROBIEVA, E. I. ZHUKOVSKAYA, L. M. PROKATOR, Z. I. KLABUKOVA, A. P. GLINKA, and A. V. MOROZOVA. 6 Jan., 1967, No. 948/67. Heading C4S. A phosphor coating for colour or black and white cathode - ray tube screens containing ZnOZn phosphor has in addition ZnSe.ZnS.Ag. Ni to reduce the red emission deficiency and preferably 2CaO.Al 2 O 3 .SiO 2 .Ce 2 O 3 or Sr 3 (PO 2 ) 2 -Eu phosphor to reduce blue emission deficiency. These mixes have broad emission characteristics over the range 3900 to 7000 Š with two peaks at 4200 to 4300 Š and 5200 to 5600 Š. Preferred proportions by weight are ZnO.Zn : 14 to 22% (e.g. 17%); ZnSe.ZnS.Ag.Ni : 53 to 66% by weight (e.g. 61%); and 18 to 26% (e.g. 22%) of either 2CaO.Al 2 O 3 .SiO 2 .Ce 2 O 3 or Sr 3 (PO 4 ) 2 .Eu. In methods of preparation, the above phosphors are placed in an aqueous solution of potassium silicate and strontium nitrate, then poured through an atomizer on to the C.R. tube, deposited for an hour, water poured off, and the screen dried. Subsequently an organic film applied to the screen is aluminized.
