A plate-bending machine of the type operating with rollers includes, to facilitate the bending of plates into conical shape, a pin which is adapted during the bending operation to engage one of the rollers in a substantially radial direction and to serve as an abutment for one edge of the blank being bent. Co-operating with two lower rollers 4, 5 rotating in the same direction, an upper roller 8 is vertically adjustable, at one end i n an end frame member 1 and at the other end in a bracket 13 mounted in an end frame member 2. The bracket 13 can be pulled slightly outward of the frame 2 and roller 8 and turned laterally to allow the bent sheet to be removed from the machine. To bend a sheet 24 into conical shape the upper roll 8 is set at an angle to the lower rolls and a pin 18, slidably mounted in a holder 17 secured to the end member 2, is moved up to engage in a groove 16 in the roll 8, the plate 24 then being fed through the machine, one edge being pressed against the pin 18. The groove 16 in the roll 8 may be dispensed with and the upper end surface of the pin 18 shaped to correspond to the roller surface.
