Abstract
720,637. Linkwork. GEMEINHARDT, W. Sept. 8, 1952 [Sept. 20, 1951], No. 22554/52, Class 80 (3) [Also in Group XXVI] The impeller 17, Fig. 2, of a centrifugal pump is rotated about a pivot pin 28 by means of an offset portion 15<SP>1</SP> of the driving shaft 15. The portion 15<SP>1</SP> extends into a bore 30 and is loosely surrounded by a sleeve 32 which is journaled in a bush 31 in the bore 30 and is fixed to a rubber or other flexible cover 33 for the pump housing 10. Sleeve 32 and cover 33 prevent leakage of fluid around the shaft portion 15'. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 9, leakage is prevented by a flexible hose 16 of rubber, plastic or metal, which surrounds the shaft portion 15' and is fixed at one end to the pump housing 10. At its other end, the hose 16 is connected to the shaft portion 15<SP>1</SP> and to the pump impeller 60 through ball-bearings 73 and 74 respectively. The impeller 60 rotates on a journal 62. A spring 21 prevents rubbing contact between the sleeve 16 and the shaft portion 15<SP>1</SP>.
