720,243. Cable joints. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE. Oct. 29, 1952 [Jan. 21, 1952], No. 27204/52. Class 38 (1). A flexible submarine cable repeater comprises a number of containers such as 10, 11 for the electric elements, each having a fluid-tight insulating envelope 3 moulded thereon. Adjacent containers are interconnected by flexible cables, the sheaths 4 of which are sealed to the envelopes 3, the flexible cables from the end containers being sealed to the submarine cable 12 at 13, 14. A flexible metallic.tube 8, which is not fluid-tight, encloses the chain of containers and supports the armouring 9 of the submarine cable. Specification 563,158 is referred to.
