A device for simultaneously laying and burying a submarine cable comprises a flexible pipe consisting of rings 8 each with a prime number, e.g. 3, 5, 7, of external projections 12 which is dragged over the seabed by a ship, the cable which passes through the pipe being laid as it leaves the pipe in the trench so dug. Rings 8 are connected by Cardan joints 10 of which adjacent ones are at right-angles to each other. The upper part of the pipe has no projections.
