Abstract
1494204 Pipelines SEA & LAND PIPELINES Ltd 8 April 1975 [4 June 1974 15 Nov 1974] 24760/74 and 49624/74 Heading F2P To prevent buckling during underwater laying, e.g. from a barge 15 having a slinger 11, a pipeline 1, e.g. of steel, passes over an internal resiliently deformable means, e.g. a steel spring 13, providing support at the critical regions of the over- and sag-bends 17, 20. The spring 13 is connected by a line 14 to the lay barge 15, the line being disconnected as fresh lengths of pipe are added. The spring 13 may be continuous and extend to cover both the over- and sag-bends 17, 20 or it may comprise two parts 16, 19 each located at one of the bends and connected by a line 18. A spring at the sag-bend alone may be used.
