Abstract
Dihydrostreptomycin tri-p-aminosalicylate is prepared by admixing in aqueous solution dihydrostreptomycin sulphate with sodium p-aminosalicylate, evaporating to dryness the resulting mixture under reduced pressure excluding light at a temperature below 40 DEG C., treating the residue so obtained with anhydrous methyl alcohol in order to dissolve and separate the dihydrostreptomycin tri-p-aminosalicylate from insoluble sodium sulphate, filtering the mixture and precipitating the desired salt by the addition thereto of anhydrous ethyl ether. Alternatively, dihydrostreptomycin and p-aminosalicyclic acid may be mixed in aqueous solution and the salt isolated as above. Specification 677,365 is referred to.
