Abstract
A stainless steel suitable for coating with gold alloy contains less than 2.5 per cent. of nickel, and 10-27 per cent. chromium. Suitable steels are 14-18 per cent. Cr, 0-0.12 per cent. C., 0-1.0 per cent. Mn, remainder iron; 23-27 per cent. Cr. 0-0.35 per cent. C., 0-0.25 per cent. Ni, remainder iron; 11.5-13.5 per cent. Cr, 0-0.15 per cent. C, 0-1.0 per cent. Mn, 1.25-2.5 per cent. Ni remainder iron; and 18-23 per cent. Cr, 0-0.2 per cent. C, 0.9-1.25 per cent. Cu, remainder iron.
