Class 35 The regulating winding feeding the brushes of a machine as described in Specification 644,183 is supplied by putting one part winding of each sort of each phase on alternate stator poles only, instead of on each pole, each phase of the primary winding being divided into two parts, i.e. that on the poles of one polarity being in parallel with that on the poles of the other polarity. Each phase of the regulating winding is divided into series connected parts by the tapping points, each part being wound on poles of one polarity only, so that some or all of these parts are disposed on the poles of one polarity and the remainder or none on the poles of the other polarity.
