718,207. Reciprocating motors. ITEM SOC. R.L. March 18, 1952 [March 27, 1951], No. 7001/52. Class 35 The electromagnet core of an A.C. vibrator which oscillates at supply frequency comprises a pair of poles 1, 2 excited by coils (not shown) to opposite polarities and having teeth 3-6 and 7-10 respectively. The armature which is supported on a spring 15 and carries a tool holder 16, comprises a series of corresponding teeth 11-13 situated between the stator teeth in the rest position shown. In a modification, the device may be doubleended and have similar toothed members on either side of the energizing coils. The stationary core may have more teeth than the armature, as shown, or if an unbalanced force is required the tooth members may be equal. Modifications are described in which the stationary poles have single teeth embraced by a pair of armature teeth and vice versa. A 'shelltype stator core is also described.
