717,226. Condenser arrangements. SPLADIS SOC. POUR L'APPLICATION D'INVENTIONS SCIENTIFIQUES. Nov. 26, 1952, No. 29913/52. Class 38(4) Electromedical apparatus for applying to the patient P a rapid succession of electric impulses comprises a bank of condensers C1-C24 arranged for charging from a supply D, over voltage selector S, transformer T, rectifier R, resistor r and multi-contact switch I, and for subsequent discharge in succession through the patient, after opening of switch I, by movement of a distributer arm 2a over a bank of contacts P1-P24. Mechanical and electrical interlocks 4 and 2c, 2d, respectively, ensure that charging can only occur when the arm 2a is in its "off" position, as shown. The arm, which is moved at such a rate to provide a discharge frequency of between sixty and one hundred per second, may be driven at adjustable speed by an electric motor or stepping magnet.
