Abstract
717,151. Gripper forks for lifting stacked articles; fork lift trucks. LONDON BRICK CO., Ltd., and CLIFF, W. W. July 13, 1953, [July 11, 1952.] No. 17493/52. Classes 78 (3) and 78 (4). In a lift truck fork for handling stacks of bricks, of the kind, e.g. as described in Specification 633,180, in which the tines are provided with grippers to engage the sides of rows of bricks in the lowest course, each gripper comprises a plate 13 secured to a spring steel strip 12 which is bowed outwardly by approach movement of its ends. The ends of each strip 12 are respectively mounted in a fixed block 17 and a block 18 movable longitudinally along the tine by a spring abutment 20, 21. The abutments 20, 2 are mounted on slidable rods 19 which extend through holes in the blocks 17, 18 and have pin and slot connections with a series of bell cranks 30 interconnected by actuating rods 32, operatively connected to a pair of fluid pressure jacks (not shown). In a modification (also not shown) these jacks are replaced by manual acting means.
