Abstract

716,844. Mounting terminals. EXHIBIT SUPPLY CO. Sept. 5, 1952, [Nov. 5, 1951.] No. 22318/52. Class 38(1). A moisture-tight connector for a sealed housing comprises a nipple 10 swaged into an opening 12 in the housing wall 13 and having a conical bore 19 terminating in a cylindrical counterbore 20. Mounted in the bore 19 is a compressible plug 22 having a tapered outer portion corresponding to bore 19. A disc 24 in the counterbore presses plug 22 into the bore 19 and is retained against a shoulder 21 by a spring ring 25. Passages 27 in the plug snugly receive terminals 29, in bores in the opposite ends of which are soldered conductors 33, reduced portions of the terminals being received in bores 28 in disc 24. The connections to the reduced ends of the terminals are surrounded by a further compressible plug 17 having oppositely-tapered outer portions 34, 35, the portion 35 being pressed into the nipple 10 by a collar 18 screwing onto the nipple and engaging the portion 34 through a metal stiffening cone 37.
