Abstract
716,821. Shoots. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. April 7, 1953, [April 8, 1952.] No. 8964/52. Class 78 (I). [Also in Group VII] In a machine for threading beads &c., on to a wire or the like, there is provided a sloping shoot adapted to be vibrated and means for feeding the beads to its upper end, the shoot having short sections of increased slope at which the beads moving downwardly tend to separate, their acceleration causing their apertures to align. As shown, bell-shaped beads are fed from a hopper I into a trough 3 having a gate 4, to ensure a uniform flow, beyond which the side walls converge to a gate 14 in the end wall 15, the beads being delivered through a guide funnel 10 to the shoot 7. The trough 3 is vibrated through plates 18, 19 by a vibrator 5 arranged obliquely, whilst the shoot 7 is caused to vibrate horizontally by the provision of a plate 6 free to slide vertically over the ends of the shoot. The shoot has short sections 8, 9, of increased slope and a series of ports i i in the side walls which are curved immediately above the ports whereby unaligned beads tend to spill into a trough 12. The shoot may be arranged to vibrate vertically instead of horizontally by allowing the trough 3 to press downwardly on its top end. Several shoots may be fed from one trough.
