[Class 58] An intermediate grain or seed-cleaning apparatus for a thrashing-machine comprises an open-topped box containing two superimposed inclined screens, the upper screen 2 being of larger mesh allowing the seed to pass, and the lower screen 3 being of smaller mesh retaining the seed which has passed through the screen 2, a double chute 4 receiving foreign matter from the screen 2 and inclined transversely to the slope of the screens 2, 3 in both directions from a central ridge 7 to discharge openings 8, 9, and a third screen 10 which receives seed from screen 3 and which slopes towards a discharge opening 11, together with means including a nozzle 12 covering a considerable part of the area of screen 10 for applying suction thereto from above. The apparatus may be horizontally oscillable in the direction of the arrow F, the suction means alone being stationary, and the screen 3 may be provided with a guide plate 13 for causing all the seed discharged from it to pass beneath the nozzle 12.
