Abstract
716,159. Electro-luminescent materials. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Sept. 2, 1952 [Sept. 8, 1951], No. 22096/52. Drawings to Specification. Class 39(1) An electroluminescent material is prepared by firing together zinc sulphide, zinc selenide, zinc oxide and a copper compound first in an inert atmosphere and then in an oxidizing atmosphere, treating with a mild acid e.g. acetic acid to remove zinc oxide and then with a cyanide, before washing in distilled water and drying. The proportion of zinc sulphide to zinc selenide is in the ratio of 3 or 4 to 1.
