Abstract

A flexible electroluminescent device, e.g. as described in Specification 970,146, contains an electroluminescent material of zinc sulphide, zinc selenide, zinc sulpho-selenide or zinc-cadmium sulphide, mixed with or in contact with 0.25-30 w/o, preferably 5-15 w/o, of boric acid or boric oxide. This gives improved maintenance of light output.
