Abstract

A coating composition comprises a butadieneacrylonitrile copolymer rubber and a polar resinous material as an aqueous dispersion or a solution, e.g. in methyl ethyl ketone. The resinous material, which preferably contains a polar hydroxy or carboxy group, may be a phenol-aldehyde resin or a dark, brittle resin obtained from pinewood, to which may be added a pentaerythritol ester of rosin. A thickening agent such as colloidal clay, or ammonium caseinate, sulphur, zinc oxide and an accelerator such as butyl zimate or butyl 8 may be added.
