Abstract

715,565. Practice ammunition. JERNBERG, E. W., and BRUNNSTROM, N. June 26, 1952 [June 26, 1951], No. 16090/52. Class 9(1) Practice ammunition, more particularly for automatic weapons, is provided with a frangible projectile prepared from a mixture of 45 per cent pure phenolic resin and 55 per cent pine-wood flour. The plastic mixture is filled into a mould and a pressure of 300 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> applied. It is then hardened at a temperature of 180 ‹C. The base of the projectile is given a diameter greater than the inner diameter of the cartridge case so that a tight fit is obtained on assembly: Any suitable plastic material may be used. The filling material may be finely divided asbestos or may be omitted altogether. Specification 577,930 is referred to.
