Abstract
437,152. Projectiles. PAULET, L., 11, Cours Joseph Thierry, Marseilles, France. Dec. 24, 1934, No. 36993. [Class 9 (i)] A projectile comprising a core of hard metal 2 enclosed in a jacket 3 is formed with an annular chamber 4, Fig. 1, between the core and the jacket at the part of largest diameter, so that this part of the jacket collapses when the shot is fired, leaving two rings 12, 13, Fig. 4, to engage the barrel. The annular chamber may be formed in the material of the core or of the jacket, or partly in both. Lubricant may be placed in the chamber, in which case the jacket is perforated for the escape of the lubricant. The part of the jacket around the chamber may be formed with circumferential corrugations. A lead packing 8 may be placed over the tip of the core in the nose of the projectile.
