Abstract

715,286. Piling fibrous slivers &c. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 2, 1953 [Feb. 1, 1952], No. 2701/52. Class 120(3) [Also in Group XVII] A yarn or tow is piled into a container by being projected into it via a guide and being subjected to an intermittent crosscurrent of gas as it leaves the guide. In one embodiment, the yarn 4 is projected through a tube 6 into the container, by a stream of air. A shutter 11 rotated by a jet 13 and vanes 12 interrupts air streams from jets 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, causing folding of the yarn as it enters the container. The guide tube and jets, or the container, may move according to a given pattern to assist building up of the yarn in the container. The jets may move around the line of travel of the yarn. The container may be vibrated to assist settling.
