Abstract
The invention comprises formic acid containing an amount of phosphoric acid of between 0.001 per cent and 3 per cent by weight of the formic acid. The corrosion of chromium-nickel austenitic steels and chromium-bearing ferritic-corrosion-resisting steels by formic acid is inhibited by the addition of the phosphoric acid (see Group XVIII).
