Abstract

A rimming steel having non-ageing characteristics contains between 0.01 per cent and 0.15 per cent of vanadium. The vanadium may be added as ferro vanadium, vanadium pentoxide or sodium or calcium vanadate. The carbon and silicon contents should be 0.07 per cent and less than 0.01 per cent respectively. The steel is stated, after annealing, to be suitable for deep drawing. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes also the addition of 0.3 per cent chromium instead of vanadium. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
