Abstract

Fluted rollers for spinning &c. machines are made by rolling a cylindrical blank between fluted platens made of carbon steel of composition tungsten 17 per cent, vanadium 1 per cent and molybdenum .07 per cent. They may be hardened at a temperature of 950-1000 DEG C. and annealed at 250 DEG C.
