Abstract

Class 110(3) [Also in Group XXIX] The fuel valve of an aircraft jet engine may be manually set to produce a desired engine speed range which is then maintained automatically. The control system is sensitive to the rate of change of the combustion chamber temperature to stabilize speed by preventing hunting and the system is subjected to a control to limit the maximum temperature of the combustion chamber. As shown, the fuel .valve 7 is controlled manually by lever 1 and is automatically adjusted by the oil servo system 17, 30, 34. The pressure in the pipe line 34 is controlled through valves 27, 35 in accordance with engine speed, combustion chamber maximum temperature, and combustion chamber rate of change of temperature by governor 19. the blades 39 and the bulb 49 respectively. The sensitivity of the bulb 49 and the permissible rate of change of temperature varies in correspondence with the ambient air pressure through the action of capsule 40 responsive to the ram pressure.
