Abstract
713,768. Couplings. ISOPAD, Ltd., and REIK. H. Sept. 5, 1952, [Sept. 6, 1951.] No. 21088/51. Class 38(I). [Also in Group XI] A coupling between the nickel heating wire 3a of an electric heating mantle for liquid containers, (see Group XI), and the supply lead 4, comprises a gland 8 having a part 8a adapted for screwing into a junction box on the mantle, and a cap 8b. The wire 3a has a metal sheath 3b which passes through the gland 8 to a recess I6 in the part 8a. Between the cap 8b and the part 8a is a metal member 10 which fits in coned recesses in these parts. The end of the wire 3a in the recess 16 is soldered at I I to the lead 4, and the sheath 3b is soldered at 13 to a tubular surround 12. A plastic insulating medium 14 is pressed into the surround 12, and a ceramic bead 15 on the lead 4 is pressed into the medium 14 to complete the seal.
