Abstract
713,747. Load handling machines. FARRING- TON, F. R. W. April 10, 1952 [Feb. 19, 1951], No. 3933/51. Class 78 (3) A load handling attachment for a tractor comprises a beam 12 secured to the hydraulically actuated lift arms 21 and carrying a fork 36 which, on release of a catch 43, pivots about pins 39 to discharge the load. The beam is pivoted to the arms 21 at 20 but, due to the engagement of beam projections 22 with the undersides of the arms the beam cannot move clockwise about pivots 20 and thus, during the initial lifting movement, the beam moves with the arms about an axis 23. When, however, a V-shaped abutment (not shown), which is secured to a beam projection 33, contacts the ends of the link 30, which are locked in the position shown, the inner end of the beam is held so that on further movement of the arms 21 the beam moves about pivots 20 and the fork receives an amplified movement.
