Abstract

713,562. Plain bearings. BECHLER, A. Dec. 27, 1951 [Dec. 29, 1950], No. 30212/51. Class 12(1) [Also in Group XXII] A bearing brass 27 for an automatic lathe, (see Group XXII), is provided on the lower part of its surface 28 with longitudinal grooves 35 forming oil scraping edges where they intersect the bearing surface, which edges it is stated, reduce the thickness of the oil film supporting the shaft and enable the products from the lathe to be manufactured within closer tolerances. Oil is supplied from a cup 30 through grooves 33, 32, borings 31 and a longitudinal groove 29 to the bearing surface, and at both ends of the brass the grooves 35 lead to circumferential grooves 36 providing oil drainage for the bearing. The lower bearing surface may however be divided by longitudinal and circular grooves into geometrical figures, squares &c. or intersecting helical grooves may be provided. Specification 666,888, [Group XXII], which describes and shows an automatic lathe provided with cam actuated levers, is referred to.
