Abstract
712,838. Printing processes. WINSTONE & SONS, Ltd., B. June 26, 1952 [Aug. 2, 1951], No. 18311/51. Class 100 (2). [Also in Group VIII] In printing on plastic substances, e.g. polyethylene, to which printing inks adhere poorly, the polyethylene is coated after printing with a film of transparent-substance, e.g. siiicone wax or oil, to which both pressure sensitive and water moistened types of adhesive tapes do not adhere. The silicone wax or oil may be applied as a solution on a volatile substance either by a textile pad or roller, or by spraying. The transparent film is such that it prevents the ink from being affected by pressure sensitive and water moistened types of adhesive tapes such as are used to seal up printed articles made of polyethylene, e.g. bottles.
