Abstract
An improvement in or modification of the process described and claimed in the parent Specification for the production of new thioethers having ketone groups having the formula <FORM:0712728/IV (b)/1> wherein R1 and R2 are hydrogen atoms, halogen atoms, hydroxy or alkoxy groups, X is an acyl group, R3 are alkyl radicals containing a maximum of 6 carbon atoms, R4 is an alkyl or aralkyl radical containing a maximum of 7 carbon atoms, n denotes the numbers 1 or 2, as well as salts of such thioethers, consists in reacting a nitrile of the formula <FORM:0712728/IV (b)/2> with an alkyl magnesium halide in a halogenated benzene as solvent, e.g. chlorbenzene, and hydrolysing the resultant ketimine under acid conditions. Examples describe the preparation of 1-dimethylamino-3-methylthioethyl-3-phenyl, -3-(41-chlorophenyl), -3-(21-methoxyphenyl) and -3-(31-methoxyphenyl)-hexanone-4 and of 1 - dimethylamino - 3 - ethylthioethyl-3-(41-methoxyphenyl)-hexanone-4.
