Class 58 A sack holder comprises substantially annular elements, which may be shallow ring members, adapted to fit one within the other and at least one of which has a tapered or coned portion or portions so that a wedging action is exerted and the sack gripped between the elements with its mouth held open during the filling operation, one of the annular elements being carried from a rigid stand or support, which may comprise a vertical standard having a base at its lower end which projects sufficiently to maintain the standard in a vertical position, by which it is held substantially horizontal and along which it can be moved vertically and locked in any chosen position to adjust the height at which the annular element and the open end of the sack is supported above the ground. As shown in Fig. 1 the holder comprises two tapered or coned shallow ring members 10, 13 the larger 10 of which is carried horizontally from the upper end of a rigid stand 11 with its wider end uppermost so that, with the open upper end 12a of the sack 12 laid within the ring member, the other or smaller ring member 13 which is loose may be dropped into position to grip and retain the upper end of the sack in such elevated position with the material of the sack sandwiched between the larger and smaller ring members. The ring members 10, 13 may also be formed as plain annular elements which fit one within the other and the diameters of which differ sufficiently to allow the material of the sack to be easily interposed between them and in order to grip the sack and prevent the inner element dropping through, the lower edge of the outer element is crimped inwardly at spaced intervals and the upper edge of the inner element is crimped outwardly at spaced intervals to form V-shaped inward and outward projections respectively.
