710,841. Aircraft control surfaces. BENNETT, D. C. T. Oct. 21, 1952, No. 26400/52. Class 4 The elevators of a swept-back wing aircraft or the elevons of a delta-wing aircraft are positioned so that in the attitude or normal flight they lie wholly below a horizontal plane passing through the lowest point on the trailing edge of the wings. In Fig. 1 (not shown), the tailplane of a sweptback wing aircraft lies wholly below such a plane. In Fig. 4, an underside view of a delta-wing plane is shown wherein the elevons are pivoted on brackets below the wings. Motive power may be supplied by a gas turbine, ducted fan, or rocket.
