Class 103(1) In a master cylinder for hydraulic brakes, the reservoir connection 5 communicates through a spacing member 10 formed with holes 11 with a space 14 between two seals 8 and 9, the space 14 being in communication with the pressure chamber through radial parts 13 in the inner end of the piston only when the piston is in its rearmost position corresponding to an idle condition of the brakes, this arrangement preventing backflow of liquid from within the master cylinder due to vapourization. A screwed plug 17 is provided at the highest part of the cylinder for air venting.
