Abstract
784,041. Closure caps. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Feb. 23, 1956 [March 2, 1955], No. 5688/56. Class 125(3). The filler cap 22 of a hydraulic brake master cylinder reservoir comprises a screw plug 24 with a closed end 28 provided with stuck out portions 30 forming breather openings 32 and a cap part 42 with a skirt 47 engaging a shoulder 34 on the plug, the end of the latter being turned over to secure the parts together. Ridges 49 embossed in the skirt 47 extend through slots 48 in the crimped over part and form passages 50 to permit drainage of water or other entrained material accompanying air entering the reservoir via apertures 52 in the cap or passages 50 and a baffle 36 prevents loss of fluid by splashing. In modifications the baffle 36 is omitted.
