Abstract

709,513. Manually actuated valves. ANDREAE, E. C. April 18, 1951 [Jan. 19, 1950; June 8, 1950], Nos. 1401/50 and 14256/50. Class 135. [Also in Group XXXI] Relates to a vehicle jacking system (see Group XXXI) in which there are wheeled jacks having their wheels driven by hydraulic motors in the hubs thereof. Operation of the hydraulic motors in the wheels is effected through a valve 51 to which pressure liquid is delivered. Supply of liquid to each wheel motor is controlled by a spring-urged needle valve 63 opened by depression of a spring-urged plunger 61, the four plungers being arranged in a square formation and controlled by a manual handle 69 universally connected at 68 to the body of the valve 51. The face of a member 70 secured to the handle 69 is wedged shaped so that an adjacent pair of the plungers can be depressed by tilting the handle 69, variable operation of such pair being effected by accompanying rotation of the handle 69, and so that a diametrically opposite pair of the plungers can be depressed by rotation of the handle 69, variable operation of such pair being effected by accompanying tilting of the handle. Exhausted liquid from the motor lifts the appropriate plunger 61 to escape into an exhaust chamber 512 in the valve through a bore 62 and hole 67 in the plunger, the exhaust chamber 512 communicating with a reservoir.
