Class 122(5) [Also in Group XXVIII] A gland arrangement to supply pressure fluid, such as steam, to a rotatable vessel comprises a non-rotatable hollow stem a slidably mounted in a ball bearing c and a bush b and enlarged at one end to provide a conical seat pressed by the pressure within the vessel on to a similarly internally coned seat on one end of the bush b whose other end is secured to the vessel by a flange recessed to take one race of the ball bearing c, the seats being urged into mutual contact when there is no steam pressure in the vessel by a spring d compressed between the ball bearing and a collar e attached to the small end of the stem a. Steam is supplied to the vessel through a pipe h concentrically within the stem a and escapes therefrom through the annular clearance between the pipe h and the stem a and an outlet pipe f.
